Its a heck of a long way to go for a plate of eggs.
Next Monday, Gov. Paul LePage will fly to Bernardsville, New Jersey, for a breakfast fundraiser thrown by Garden State Gov. Chris Christie.
Christie this year is chair of the Republican Governor's Association, which is heavily backing LePage's reelection campaign. The association has already reported spending $1.3 million on TV ads in Maine. In support of LePage, Christie has already traveled to Maine twice, first in May and then again in August for fundraising events.
A plate at Monday's political fete runs $3,000, but don't worry about Bernardsvillians emptying their piggy banks for the event. The town ranks among New Jersey's wealthiest enclaves, where median income is pegged at about $130,000, and the median value of an owner-occupied home is rough $654,000, roughly double the state-wide rates, according to Census figures.
