Bats alive. But can Peavy keep the Red Sox rolling?

Clearing the Bases

The Boston Red Sox offense is showing signs of life. And it didn't hurt to have Jon Lester and John Lackey on the mound the past two nights.

Today,  Boston gives the ball to Jake Peavy (1-4, 4.67). Peavy usually keeps Boston in the game. But he does give up runs.

Interestingly, only David Ortiz did not get a hit among the Boston regulars last night (and Ortiz had three walks).

Mike Napoli (2-for-3) is batting .381 since coming off the disabled list.

Daniel Nava (2-for-4) is batting .423 since being recalled from Pawtucket.

Xander Bogaerts broke out of an 0-for-19 skid with his sixth home run.

Jackie Bradley Jr. (2-for-4) is batting .312 in his last five games.

Pawtucket was rained out Friday. Today's doubleheader features Clay Buchholz and Anthony Ranaudo. Felix Doubront pitches Sunday.

Sea Dogs lefty Mickey Pena (2-2, 6.41) took a loss: 6 1/3 IP, 11 H, 6 R, 2 BB, 4 K ... reliever Robby Scott (0.59 ERA) pitched a scoreless inning - 13 of his 14th outings have been scoreless ... Sean Coyle (.349) was 2-for-4.
