Felix Doubront is scheduled to make his first rehab appearance since going on the disabled list last month with shoulder fatigue.
Doubront, who pitched at Hadlock Field in 2009 and part of 2010, has struggled this season, going 2-4, with a 5.12 ERA. Don’t know how much a tired shoulder played into that, but the Red Sox are obviously hoping he gets back in a groove. Boston manager John Farrell has often said that Doubront has the best “stuff” of the Red Sox starters.
Before it was announced Doubront was coming to Portland, Brian Johnson (3-1, 2.04) was the scheduled starter. The Sea Dogs have opted to have Johnson skip a turn in the rotation – a normal routine the Red Sox do with many of their minor league pitchers.
Thursday’s game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m., although there may be some delay, depending on when the rain lets up (which it is supposed to do).

In case you missed these stories: On Wednesday night, Henry Owens put in his longest performance as a pro. And catcher Blake Swihart, who had three hits, is proving the Red Sox scouts right by his development since the draft.
