Ranaudo Pitcher of the Year again; Dogs rolling with arms

Anthony Ranaudo picked up his second Pitcher of the Year award, this time from the International League, where he was 14-4 with a 2.61 ERA for Pawtucket. Ranaudo won the Easter League award last year while with the Portland Sea Dogs.

Ranaudo’s Pawtucket teammate, Matt Barnes, kept up his good run with 7 1/3 innings on Monday: 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 4 K. Barnes (8-8, 3.80) has a 1.30 ERA in his last six starts … Pawtucket beat Buffalo 6-2 to take a one-game lead in the wild card race … Alex Hassan (.283) was 3-for-4 … Garin Cecchini (.257) hit a 3-run double.

The Portland Sea Dogs have won 10 straight. The pitching staff has thrown 21 straight scoreless innings. The bullpen’s scoreless streak is 28 innings … Justin Haley (1.47) is entering the prospect conversation. See today’s story.
