So the struggling Red Sox offense totaled 15 hits and six runs. Slumping Daniel Nava went 3-for-4 with a walk. Boston had ace Jon Lester on the mound.
And the Red Sox lost.
Lester (6-7, 3.52) allowed 12 hits and five runs in 4 1/3 innings. Reliever Edward Mujica (6.65 ERA) was the only Boston pitcher not to allow a run.

Pawtucket’s Matt Barnes (2-4, 4.69) won: 6 2/3 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 3 K … Both Travis Shaw (.280) and Christian Vazquez (.271) had two hits … Mookie Betts (.286) was 0-3 with a walk.
A couple of unheralded Sea Dogs had three hits apiece: Michel Brenly (.317) tripled and doubled twice; Derrik Gibson (.290) was 3-for-5 … Blake Swihart (.293) had a triple.
The Sea Dogs finish their home stand at 1 p.m. today.
